CEMT AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE EUROPEAN MARITIME INDUSTRY

Scope

The CEMT Award is presented annually in recognition of the outstanding contribution to the success of the European maritime industry  made by an individual,  company or organisations

Such contribution may be technological, political or economic, and may have been made over a period of time or by the introduction of a product or service.

Nominations

Nominations may be made by any member of the member societies of CEMT.  Companies or organisations should have an European origin or have significant operations in Europe.

Recipients of The CEMT Award

2005

Professor Jerzy Wojciech Doerffer 

(as Emeritus Professor, Technical University of Gdansk)

in recognition of a lifetime of distinguished service and contribution to the

European maritime industry through his academic work

2006

Dr Corrado Antonini 

(as Chairman of Fincantieri)

in recognition of his significant contribution to the European shipbuilding industry through the leadership which he has given to the industry by his long involvement with the Community of European Shipyards' Association and other organisations.

Pierre-Armand Thomas 

(as Vice-Président Technologie et Innovation)

in recognition of his significant contribution to the European offshore industry over many years, particularly through the development of new technology which he has pioneered.

2007

José Esteban Pérez  

(as Past President of Spanish Association of Naval Architects and Marine and Ocean Engineers)

in recognition of his outstanding contribution over many years, both to the Spanish and European shipbuilding industry, and to the formation of the naval architects of the future.

2009

Alan Gavin 

(as Marine Director, Lloyd's Register of Shipping)

in recognition of his significant contribution to the improvement of both European and international marine safety

2010

Professor Terndrup Pedersen

(as professor in shipbuilding at the Technical University of Denmark)

in recognition of his outstanding contribution over many years, both to the Danish and European maritime industries, and to the formation of the naval architects of the future

2011

Professor Antonio Fiorentini

(as Director of the Department of Ship Engineering and Teacher at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Naples "Federico II")

in recognition of his outstanding contribution over many years to both maritime research and the formation of the naval architects and marine engineers of the future
